2. Hanneke’s Boom

Vince’s favorite bar/restaurant. The restaurant is surrounded by water, giving it a quaint feel. In summer you can swing on one of the trees on the terrace, while in winter you can huddle around the fireplace. Best nachos in town!

3. Sky Lounge

4. Noorderlicht

Located at an old shipyard, Noorderlicht embodies the artsy vibe the place has today. It’s one of the lightest restaurants in Amsterdam, which should come as no surprise as the restaurant used to be a greenhouse.

5. Pllek

Another great option at the old shipyard is Plekk. Enjoy a great view of the city from the water, while walking around shoeless on the sandy terrace. Especially in summer, this is a great place to hang out all night.

6. Cafe Papeneiland

Known as a truly Amsterdam cafe you really experience the history of this centuries-old establishment. It was from this cafe where in the 17th century the Catholics went through an underground tunnel to their secret church!

7. In ‘t Aepjen (in the Monkey)

Located in the 3rd oldest building in Amsterdam, you really get a feel of where the old sailors used to have their last drinks before their world travels. Top tip: ask about the story of the monkey!

8. Cafe de Jaren

A Grand Cafe in the heart of the city center with an amazing view over the water. The service is not the best, but it is still an iconic place and better than most of the other places in the red light district nearby.

9. Winkel 43

Ever heard of Dutch apple pie? Winkel 43 serves Amsterdams best pies it until 1am. If you’re on a modeling contract, this place is not for you as the portion of pie are massive!

10. Cafe ‘t Smalle

By far our favorite place for a drink. The terrace on the water is a quaint as quaint can get. This cafe has the DNA of Amsterdam engrained in everyone that works and visits there.

11. Bret

Staying near Sloterdijk Station in Amsterdam West? Try a beer and some finger food in Bret. This sustainable place is made from red shipping containers. The complete interior is from recycled wood, and it feels almost like a traditional Dutch brown bar. Good to know that a lot of their food comes from their own garden on the other side of the street.
