Leiden and Delft Private Tour
Leiden, the city of Discoveries, famous for having the oldest University of the Netherlands (1575), the most beautiful canal of the world and the place where Rembrandt is born. This student city is also well-known for its rich history and old city center, with its canals, city gates, bridges, windmills, a castle, the Hortus botanical gardens and two large Late Gothic churches.
Our experienced guide will take you into the city and show the most beautiful canals and courtyards, climb to the old castle on the hill overlooking the city center and visit one of the famous Gothic churches. The city tour will be about 2,5 hours and we will end with lunch in the heart of the city center.
We continue our day at the historical city of Delft – the city of Delft Blue Pottery and home to the Dutch painter Vermeer. We will wander over the old canals and discover the beautiful antique houses, churches, and markets.
We end the day with a visit to a traditional pottery that makes the famous blue and white decorative ceramics at Royal Delft. This is the last remaining earthenware factory from the 17th century. Here the renowned Delft Blue is still entirely hand painted according to centuries-old tradition. At the Royal Delft Experience you will discover the complete history and production process of Royal Delftware and feel our painters’ passion during a painting demonstration. We will admire the Delftware museum collection and wander through the factory where craftsmen are busy producing the products.
