Streetart Frankey in the centre of Amsterdam
Still there, as far as we know
A tribute to André Hazes on the square he sang about in one of his songs. The singer, who died in 2004, was the king of the levenslied, the emotional Dutch popular song about love, loss and the local café, and he remains a national favourite. Frankey honours several Dutch singers at the places named in their music.
Andre Hazes is a Streetart Frankey artwork on Leidseplein, in the centre of Amsterdam.
It is one of 184 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Centrum. 73 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.
Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.
Our guides know where Frankey's pieces hide. Ask us for a private street art walking tour and we will build the route around the art, Frankey's work very much included.
