Streetart Frankey in Amsterdam Noord
Inside the STRAAT Museum on the NDSM wharf
Still there, as far as we know
Donkey Kong, the barrel-throwing gorilla from Nintendo's 1981 arcade game, has found a home indoors at STRAAT, the museum of street art and graffiti in a vast former shipyard hall on the NDSM wharf. Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, the character went on to become one of Nintendo's best-known stars alongside Mario.
Donkey Kong is a Streetart Frankey artwork on STRAAT Museum, in Amsterdam Noord.
It is one of 32 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Noord. 5 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.
Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.
Our guides know where Frankey's pieces hide. Ask us for a private street art walking tour and we will build the route around the art, Frankey's work very much included.
