Streetart Frankey in Amsterdam Zuid
Still there, as far as we know
This 2023 tribute honours Eberhard van der Laan, Mayor of Amsterdam from 2010 until his death on 5 October 2017. Born on 28 June 1955, he was widely admired across the political spectrum for his warm, straight-talking style, and his open letter to the city in his final months moved many Amsterdammers. The work is by Paradiso, the famous music venue.
Eberhard Van Der Laan is a Streetart Frankey artwork on Weteringschans, in Amsterdam Zuid. It appeared in 2023.
It is one of 99 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Zuid. 72 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.
Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.
Het Parool wrote about this work in its Streetart Frankey column: read the article (in Dutch).
Our guides know where Frankey's pieces hide. Ask us for a private street art walking tour and we will build the route around the art, Frankey's work very much included.
