Streetart Frankey in Amsterdam Zuid
Still there, as far as we know
Ernie Has a Banana in His Ear borrows its humour from Sesame Street, where Ernie is the cheerful, mischievous half of the Muppet duo Bert and Ernie. The absurd title is typical of the gentle, silly comedy the pair have been known for since the late 1960s.
Ernie Has A Banana In His Ear is a Streetart Frankey artwork on Beethovenstraat, in Amsterdam Zuid.
It is one of 99 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Zuid. 11 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.
Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.
Het Parool wrote about this work in its Streetart Frankey column: read the article (in Dutch).
Our guides know where Frankey's pieces hide. Ask us for a private street art walking tour and we will build the route around the art, Frankey's work very much included.
