About Flavor Flav

Flavor Flav, the hype man of the pioneering hip-hop group Public Enemy, is instantly recognisable by the oversized clock he wears around his neck. He co-founded the group in the 1980s, and his clock, a reminder that time keeps moving, became one of rap's best-known accessories. Here he has turned up on one of Amsterdam's liveliest shopping streets.

Flavor Flav is a Streetart Frankey artwork on Utrechtsestraat, in the centre of Amsterdam.

It is one of 184 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Centrum. 31 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.

Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.

Het Parool wrote about this work in its Streetart Frankey column: read the article (in Dutch).
