About Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse, the French painter and cut-out artist famed for his bold colour, is the subject of this Frankey piece in the Jordaan. Matisse is counted among the most influential artists of the twentieth century, and Frankey often brings such art-world heroes down to street level.

Henri Matisse is a Streetart Frankey artwork on Anjeliersstraat, in the centre of Amsterdam.

It is one of 184 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Centrum. 27 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.

Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.

Het Parool wrote about this work in its Streetart Frankey column: read the article (in Dutch).
