About Lifebuoy

Frankey throws out a lifebuoy near the Frederiksplein, the square at the southern edge of the canal belt. Lifebuoys hang along canals all over Amsterdam, a familiar sight in a city built on water, and here one becomes a small artwork that seems ready to rescue anyone who needs it.

Lifebuoy is a Streetart Frankey artwork on Nicolaas Witsenstraat, in the centre of Amsterdam.

It is one of 184 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Centrum. 24 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.

Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.

Het Parool wrote about this work in its Streetart Frankey column: read the article (in Dutch).
