Streetart Frankey in Amsterdam Oost
‘Crazy about Ajax’: a tribute to Tante Leen on the Middenweg
Still there, as far as we know
This tribute to Tante Leen belongs to Frankey's Bus Shelter Tributes, a series honouring songs by Dutch artists that name Amsterdam places, each marked at a bus shelter on that very spot. Tante Leen's Ajax song mentions the Middenweg, so here she is. The series started in 2019 with five shelters and grew by five more, realised with JCDecaux.
This Streetart Frankey artwork is on Middenweg, in Amsterdam Oost.
It is one of 28 Streetart Frankey works on our map in Oost. 3 other works are still in place within about ten minutes on foot, so this one is easy to combine with a short Frankey walk.
Frankey's pieces are small and easy to walk past. Once you reach the spot, look up and around: at drainpipes, street signs, bollards and window ledges. If you visit and the work has gone, please tap Gone on its card on the map, so we can keep the map up to date for everyone.
Het Parool wrote about this work in its Streetart Frankey column: read the article (in Dutch).
Our guides know where Frankey's pieces hide. Ask us for a private street art walking tour and we will build the route around the art, Frankey's work very much included.
