Prefer it private? Book the craft beer tour for your own group

The small group tour leaves from Dam Square at 15:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and lasts about 2.5 hours. Would you rather have the guide to yourselves? Book Brews and T’Ales as a private tour.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Amsterdam Craft Beer Tour

How big is the group?

Ten people at most, which is small enough that you can hear the guide and talk to the people you are drinking with.

Where do we meet?

On Dam Square, in front of the Nieuwe Kerk.

How long is the tour and how much beer is included?

Two and a half hours. You taste a range of craft beers from Dutch microbreweries along the way, with typical Dutch snacks to go with them.

Do I need to know anything about beer?

Not a thing. The tour works just as well for someone who has never ordered a stout as for a hop obsessive, and the guide pitches it to whoever is on the tour.

Which bars do we visit?

Some of the oldest bars in Amsterdam, chosen for the beer and for the stories that go with them. The exact list shifts with what the breweries have on.

Is there a private version?

Yes. The same tour can be run privately for your group, which is worth considering if you are a family, a group of friends or a company.

Can I book this beer tour as a private tour?

Yes. The private version runs any day at a time that suits you, lasts about 3.5 hours and is just for your own group, normally up to eight guests. Hotel and cruise port pick-up is available on request. Use the private booking button on this page to choose your date.

Is this tour suitable for guests with limited mobility?

Yes. As a private tour we tailor the route, pace and distance to you. The historic city centres are compact and mostly flat, though the streets are often cobbled with the occasional bridge or step. On request we plan a largely step-free route, and we can arrange accessible transport or a wheelchair (arranged per booking). Tell us what you need when you enquire and we will plan around it.

Great local beers and chat A fun walkabout and intro to the vibrant craft scene in Amsterdam. Kees was a great guide, and gave us a good bit of local history to go with our tasty brews. Pro tip: don’t be afraid of the genever.

We booked a private tour with Stephan in Haarlem. I had been viewing his virtual tours for years, and it was a treat to meet him and have our own tour. We loved the pace of the tour, no rush, no crowds. We were able to walk many places in Haarlem, even had a beer in a church! I would highly recommend Stephan and his company.

Ideal Way to End An Amazing Journey Amsterdam is an amazing city. It's fascinating and important place in European history, evidenced with the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank Haus, canal rides etc, make Amsterdam equal to, or better, than Paris, Rome, and London. In our five glorious days we thought we had done it all, so on our last day in Amsterdam and our trip, my wife booked the perfect ending with the Craft Beer Tour 🍺. First and foremost, our guide Michael, was far and above the best guide we had not just in Amsterdam, but our entire 18 day European trip. Not only was he the most, friendly and interesting, but his vast and expansive knowledge in not just the Amsterdam craft beer scene but in Dutch art, architecture, cultural history knew no bounds. Add to that, the best beers my wife and I have ever enjoyed, made this one of the highlights of our vacation. This established, we enthusiastically give our highest recommendation to Michael and we personally thank him for concluding our trip with an unexpected highlight of our amazing journey.

Christian was an absolute delight as our tour guide. Super knowledgeable about Amsterdam and its history but did not turn the tour into a recitation of dates and facts. His real life experience living on the canals helped us to understand what day today life in Amsterdam looks like. Touring with Christian was like touring with a longtime friend delighted to show you his town. The kind of guy you want to have a beer with…so we did and that was great too! Highly recommend

Interesting and informative Sarah was very engaging and knowledgeable. She was animated with her story telling and held your interest. The VR element was really good too. You could get a little dizzy if you moved too fast, but it really brought everything to life. The only tiny negative is that it advertises a drink at the end, which included beer and wine, but we're only offered coke or water. A glass of wine would have finished the experience off nicely. We were all too polite to mention it. Overall, well worth it and I think it's better than visiting Anne Frank house.

Bespoke Amsterdam Experiences provided an amazing multi-day tour of the Netherlands. As a Travel Designer, I am excited for the opportunity to work with Bepoke Amsterdam Experiences as I plan and design custom luxury trips for my travelers. My favorite experience during my trip was the Tulip farm and the Stroopwafle factory. The guides were professional, the tours were well thought out and drivers we professional, safe and kept all the tours on time. Bespoke Amsterdam Experiences will definitely be my go to when booking trips to the Netherlands.

I cannot say enough great things about out tours with Amsterdam Experiences! I had the chance to do Anne Frank's last walk, Pronk Tulip Experience, a welcome walk around the city, Canal Cruise with cheese tasting, Delft Pottery painting, a walk around the city of Gouda with a sirrupwafel factory tour and a guided tour at the Rijk museum. As a travel advisor, I was blown away with the professionalism and meaningful touches that they added to our trip. It was so memorable, and I know my clients are in great hands with Amsterdam Experiences. Thank you to Stephan and Katherine for being wonderful guides!

Walking tour with Michael the Cheese Lover was AMAZING Loved the Cheese Lover tour! While he offers private tours, mine was not a private tour. There were eight of us in all. We enjoyed a casually paced walk through the city visiting two cheese shops and ending in a 300+ year old pub for the final tasting session. Throughout the tour we were invited to ask questions while Michael talked cheese and shared heartwarming and hilarious stories with us. He also pointed out landmarks of interest and various non-cheese related recommendations along the way. The vibe was friendly and educational, no sales pitches. Michael explained Dutch cheeses, cheese shops, transporting the cheese, what to look for in the types of cheese, what makes a good cheese board, the different cheese knives, how to cut/serve cheese and pairing with beer and wine. I don’t drink alcohol, but others in the group were very impressed and somewhat surprised (pleasantly) with his suggestions. Michael is approachable, entertaining, and knowledgeable. I recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys authentic experiences!

Amsterdam Walking Beer Tour August 2025 We had an incredible experience on our private Amsterdam beer tour with Kasse as our guide. From the very beginning, Kasse made us feel welcome and comfortable, blending local knowledge with a genuine passion for beer and the city’s brewing culture. The tour was the perfect mix of history, storytelling, and, of course, tasting! Each stop offered something unique—whether it was a hidden craft spot we never would have found on our own or a historic pub with centuries of tradition. Kasse kept the pace relaxed and engaging, tailoring the experience to our group’s interests and making sure everyone had a great time.Beyond the beer itself, what stood out most was Kasse’s enthusiasm and expertise. He shared fascinating insights about Amsterdam’s brewing heritage, modern craft scene, and even local tips that gave us a deeper appreciation for the city. This was a highlight of our trip, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants more than just a typical tourist experience. If you’re looking for a fun, authentic, and personalized way to explore Amsterdam through its beers—ask for Kasse.
