Discover two of the most celebrated destinations in the Netherlands on this private full-day tour. Visit the famous windmills of Kinderdijk and explore the historic city of Gouda, known for its cheese, canals, and medieval landmarks. With a private guide and comfortable transport, this tour offers an in-depth and relaxed introduction to Dutch heritage.
Start the day at the enchanting windmill hamlet of Kinderdijk, home to nineteen historic windmills, the largest concentration in the Netherlands. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to explore two authentic windmills from the inside and learn how they helped shape Dutch water management.
You will have time to experience the area both on land and from the water, offering different perspectives of this unique landscape. A coffee break at a nearby cafe allows you to enjoy the peaceful surroundings before continuing the journey.
Next, we visit Gouda, a charming city in South Holland with a beautifully preserved medieval centre. Although famous worldwide for its cheese, candles, and stroopwafels, Gouda has a rich history and impressive architecture.
During a guided walking tour, you will explore ancient canals and some of the city’s most remarkable monuments. Highlights include the Sint Janskerk, the longest church in the Netherlands, renowned for its stained-glass windows, and the Old City Hall, a striking building dating back to 1450. If we time it right, you may also see the carillon, where mechanical figures perform a traditional animated display.
No visit to Gouda is complete without tasting its culinary specialities. During the tour, we visit the cheese museum to sample a selection of traditional Gouda cheeses. We also stop at a syroopwafel factory, where you can watch the production process and enjoy a freshly made waffle straight from the line.

“I grew up in Gouda, so I always recommend wandering through the little streets behind St Jan’s Kerk. They are quiet, hidden and feel almost like stepping into Bruges. And before you arrive, make sure you know how to pronounce the name properly in Dutch: Gowda, with a strong G.”
