Viva Cruises in Amsterdam: Your Ship, Your Berth and Your Free Days

Most Viva Cruises guests have a little extra time in Amsterdam around their sailing. Modern ships such as Viva One and Viva Moments often begin or end their Rhine and Dutch itineraries here, which is a great window for a relaxed day out. Below you can follow the Viva fleet live, check the 2026 and 2027 docking dates and find the exact quay your ship uses.

We offer a private or small-group alternative to the ship’s coach excursions: your own guide, your own pace, and only the things you actually want to see. From the canals and the Rijksmuseum to a day at Keukenhof or the Zaanse Schans windmills, we build the day around you.

Back whenever your ship actually leaves, guaranteed. Viva’s late departures mean the deadline is often far softer than on other lines, and we plan to your real all-aboard rather than a cautious guess. Send us your dates.

We make the most of a long stay. Viva sits in Amsterdam longer than most river ships, and that extra time is the whole opportunity: a proper afternoon, dinner ashore, or the canals once the light goes. 4.9 stars from thousands of reviews.

Sailing the Rhine? Low water can change or cancel itineraries at short notice. See our live Rhine water level tracker before you travel.

Why Book a Private Tour?

Viva has built its whole proposition on flexibility: later departures, longer stays in port, no rigid programme herding you off the ship at nine. A private day is simply the logical extension of that.

Viva’s guests are a genuinely international mix and the ships are small, so people here tend to want to explore on their own terms rather than follow a raised umbrella. We just make that easier, with somebody alongside who actually knows the city.

Viva often stays in Amsterdam later than the average river ship, which means a proper unhurried day is realistic rather than a dash back to the gangway. We build the day to use that time, evening included if you want it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Viva Cruises dock in Amsterdam?

Viva ships berth centrally, most often along De Ruijterkade behind Central Station, at the Passenger Terminal, at Coenhaven or at Westerdoksdijk. Your exact berth is shown in the schedule above.

Our ship stays late in Amsterdam. Can we use the evening?

Yes, and it is one of the nicer things about sailing with Viva. We can run into the evening: the canals at dusk, dinner somewhere good, or a walk through the old town once the day-trippers have gone.

Which Viva ships call at Amsterdam?

Viva One and Viva Moments are the ships you will see here. The schedule above shows which ship is in on which date.

Can you collect us from the ship?

Yes. Your guide meets you at the gangway or terminal, or your hotel if you are staying on, and the day runs entirely on your timing.

How far ahead should we book a Viva shore excursion?

The sooner the better for peak season, but we can often arrange a guide at short notice too, so do get in touch even close to your sailing date.
