All About Me:
Hi, I’m Anna. I’m an international tour guide with experience working in different parts of the world, and I love bringing people and cultures closer together through travel and storytelling. Originally from Russia, I’ve lived and worked in diverse environments, which has helped me develop a deep interest in intercultural communication. My academic background in cultural studies and linguistics, together with my knowledge of world history and my interest in art, allows me to see places not only as destinations, but as layers of memory, meaning, and human experience.
I’m not currently based in the Netherlands, but whenever I’m in the country I especially enjoy guiding at locations connected with Anne Frank and Jewish heritage. I’ve spent time studying Jewish history and culture, and I try to approach these themes with sensitivity, empathy, and respect. For me, guiding in such places is not only about historical facts, but also about remembrance, reflection, and the shared stories that connect people across generations.
Alongside guiding, much of my work is done remotely, where I support our team behind the scenes. I help to manage emails and calendars, assist with communication, and contribute to the smooth organisation of our projects. I value this quieter side of my work as well, because it allows me to stay connected with people and initiatives around the world, even when I’m not physically on the road.
You can take the following tours with me:
My favourite place in the Netherlands is Zaandam. It isn’t large or impressive, but it’s calm and welcoming, and that’s what I love about it. I’m especially drawn to Zaandam because of its connection to Peter the Great, who came here to learn shipbuilding not as a ruler, but as an ordinary learner. As I’m originally from Russia, this link feels very personal to me. I’ve always been interested in languages and history, and Zaandam reflects how cultures meet, influence one another, and leave lasting traces in simple, everyday places.
