May 2026, At this moment we are not looking for new tour guides for this season anymore. Try again next February 2027 🙂
At Amsterdam Experiences, we are always looking for exceptional people to join our team of guides. Not because we are short on staff, but because we believe great guides make all the difference. If you are the kind of person who naturally connects with people, can tell stories that stay with people, and understands that a tour is more than just a list of facts, we would like to hear from you.
We operate both high-quality public group tours and fully tailored private experiences across Amsterdam and the Netherlands. The guides we are seeking must be dynamic, flexible, and adaptable.
One moment you could be leading a diverse group through the city, the next you are hosting a private family, a group of friends, or high-end travellers expecting something more personal, more refined, and flexible.
Our approach is simple. No scripts, no generic tours, no headsets, no robotic guiding. We focus on real human connection, strong storytelling, and experiences that feel natural and effortless.
Guests should feel like they are exploring the city with a trusted friend, not following a guide with a checklist.
We are not looking for standard guides. We are looking for people who will fit our way of working.
Having previous experience as a guide is helpful, but not required. The right mindset matters more. We prefer guides who have been living in the Netherlands for several years. You do not need to be Dutch, but a strong understanding of the country, its history, and its culture is essential.
You will become part of a team that values quality over volume. We work with guides who take pride in what they do and who want to create something memorable for every guest.
We offer a mix of public tours and private bookings, giving you variety in your work. Private tours in particular allow for a deeper connection with guests and often involve more customised itineraries.
Communication is direct and personal. No unnecessary layers, no corporate structure. Just a team that supports each other and works towards the same goals.
We also understand that guiding is a craft. The more you do it, the better you become. That is why we continuously share ideas, improve tours, and learn from each other.
Because they want more than just “doing tours”.
You will have the freedom to guide in your own style while still being part of a strong concept. You will work with guests who are genuinely interested and looking for something beyond the standard experience. You will also be part of a team where quality, personality, and authenticity matter.
If this sounds like you, send us a short introduction giving us a little information about yourself.
Tell us who you are, what your interests are, why you would be a good fit for our team, and what kind of tours you would enjoy guiding.
If you already have experience, include a short overview. If not, explain why you believe this role suits you.
Send your application to: info@amsterdamexperiences.nl
We review applications on an ongoing basis and will get back to you if there is a match.
No. Experience helps, but personality, communication skills and mindset are more important.
Yes. We operate both types of tour, and guides are expected to be comfortable with both styles. If you have no guiding experience, you will start on our public tours and later on, if appropriate, you can be trained to do private tours.
Our guides work on a freelance basis, depending on availability and season. Our team is a mix of artists, musicians, students, teachers, historians, and more.
We require all of our guides to be fluent in English. Any additional languages are a strong advantage. We sometimes offer tours in French, German, Spanish, and Dutch. Other languages are occasionally requested too.
We guide you in our way of working and expectations, but we do not train you to follow scripts or fill you with facts. We expect you to develop your own style within our approach and expand your knowledge independently.
Our training involves joining tours with other guides to share stories, information relevant to the tours, and getting to know different styles and approaches so that you can make your own version of the tours.
