Every guide on this page was chosen for one thing above all: they make a place come alive. Knowledge matters, but what guests remember is the story, the laugh and the moment a guide spotted what they were curious about and ran with it. We look for personality, warmth and real engagement, and then train our guides ourselves in the way we work.
That is why no two tours with us are the same. Your guide adapts to who is in the group, how you like to explore and what catches your eye along the way, whether that is art, history, food or everyday Dutch life. If you enjoy our blog, you will recognise the approach.

Start with the subject rather than the person. Filter by what you actually want to see, whether that is Anne Frank and Jewish history, the Rijksmuseum, food and cheese, or the countryside, and the list narrows to the guides who lead those tours. Then look at the review count: a guide with hundreds of reviews on one subject has told that story many times.
Not sure? Tell us who is coming and what you are interested in, and we will pair you with the guide we think fits, and say why. If we do not have the right person, we will tell you honestly rather than send you out with someone who only half fits.
Yes. Mention the name when you book and we will do our best to arrange it. Availability is the only limit, and it gets tighter in spring and over the summer, so ask as early as you can. If your guide is not free we will tell you and suggest someone with a similar specialism rather than swapping quietly.
Booking two or three days with us? We will try to keep the same guide throughout, or mix guides with different specialisms if you prefer.
We work with a team of 30+ professional guides across the Netherlands and Belgium. We train them ourselves, and between them the team includes art historians, a professional photographer, a cheese specialist and guides with academic backgrounds in history and tourism.
The Netherlands does not operate a compulsory national licence for city guides, so we select on what matters on the day: storytelling, personality and how well someone connects with guests. Not a list of dry facts, but a tour built around you. That is also why we publish the reviews per guide.
Most private tours run in English. Across the team we also guide in Dutch, German, French and Spanish. Tell us which language you would like and we will match you with a guide who speaks it, subject to availability on your dates. If you need a language that is not on that list, contact us and we will do our best to arrange it.
On a private tour, yes. It is a private tour, with no strangers joining, no headsets and no fixed script. Our small group tours are listed separately under Small Groups.
Several do. Laszlo, Benardo, Thomas and Chris lead full-day driving tours across the Netherlands, and some tours reach into Belgium. Use the Where filter above to see who travels.
It depends on the tour. For museum tours we usually meet at the museum itself. For full day tours it is normal for your guide to collect you from your hotel, from Schiphol Airport or from your ship. We also meet guests at the river cruise moorings and at the ocean cruise terminals in Amsterdam, IJmuiden, Rotterdam and Zaandam.
Many do, and some particularly enjoy it. Several of our guides are experienced at working with children in museums, and others are good at keeping teenagers interested. If you are travelling as a family, say so when you book and we will match you accordingly.
