All About Me:

Hi, I’m Laszlo.

I am originally from Budapest, and I have lived in the Netherlands for nearly three decades. Most of my working life has been rooted in hospitality and tourism, from hostels and hotels to running my own guest house in Amsterdam’s Red Light District for more than ten years. Guiding grew out of that very naturally. I was already sharing the city with my guests long before I officially became a guide. What I enjoy most is welcoming people who are seeing the Netherlands for the first time and helping them understand not just what they are looking at, but how life here actually works.

My main interests lie in Dutch history, especially the seventeenth century and the Golden Age, when trade, windmills, water management, and tulip cultivation shaped the country as we know it today. I am most comfortable on full day tours to the countryside, tulip fields, and places like Kinderdijk, where there is time to go deeper and build a coherent story rather than rush through highlights.

I enjoy guiding in a calm, conversational way. Some of the most meaningful moments happen on the road, travelling together and talking before we even arrive. I value space, attention, and genuine exchange, and I am careful to create an atmosphere where guests feel informed and at ease.

Outside guiding, my time is shared between a few different freelance roles and family life, which naturally sets the rhythm of my days. I like to stay active and make room for sports and games when I can, but most of my energy is happily centred on my young family. This balance carries through into my work as a guide. I take a calm, considered approach, valuing clarity, honesty, and human connection, and I aim to offer an experience of the Netherlands that feels engaging, thoughtful, and genuinely personal.

My favourite place in Amsterdam is Albert Cuyp Market, together with the surrounding De Pijp area. I like it because it feels genuinely lived in. The market, the streets, and the mix of people create a daily rhythm that is very real and very Amsterdam. There is always something to notice, from food and architecture to small, ordinary moments, and it offers endless material for conversation and storytelling.
