Learn about the Jewish History of Amsterdam & Anne Frank in this Private Tour

Explore the historic Jewish quarter of Amsterdam, and hear more about Anne Frank and her family. We will assist you to get tickets to the Anne Frank house.

Our guides have many years of experience telling this story. They are trained to share the history with care and respect. The focus is on context and understanding, not on sensational details.

You’ll also discover several hidden gems along the canals, as our guide shares stories that will bring Amsterdam’s Jewish history to life. After a refreshing drink in one of our favourite restaurants, we can walk or take a tram to the city centre.

We end the tour by the Westerkerk, a building Anne could see from the attic window. Our final destination is the Anne Frank House, which is nearby. The tour will end in plenty of time for your ticketed entry time.

Who is this tour for?

This tour is designed for visitors who want context, understanding, and a deeper connection to Anne Frank’s story and Amsterdam’s Jewish history.

This tour is part of our World War II tours in the Netherlands.

  • Suitable for adults and teenagers who are interested in history, personal stories, and thoughtful discussion
  • Not ideal for very young children, as the themes and pace are better suited to older audiences.
  • Emotional and impactful, yet always respectful and informative, with a focus on historical context rather than graphic detail

The secret annex where Anne Frank lived

The secret annex is the hiding place where the Franks sought refuge during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. While celebrating the life of Amsterdam’s most famous Jewish resident, you’ll learn about how one little girl’s diary came to affect the lives of millions. We will show the old entrance and the Anne Frank House from the outside.

Rather than a somber story of loss and sorrow, this tour’s theme is tolerance and hope, because, as Anne wrote;

“Don’t think of all the misery, but of all the beauty that still remains.” (Anne Frank)
