All About Me:

Hi, I’m Sierra. I was born and raised in Amsterdam, and I happily guide people through the city I’ve known all my life. I guide in English and Dutch, and when I’m not walking with visitors, I’m studying Ancient History at the University of Amsterdam. My academic focus ranges from the ancient Greeks and Romans to the civilisations of Mesopotamia. Yes, it’s the world of clay tablets and cuneiform! Even though that may seem far from Amsterdam, studying art, architecture, and urban spaces has shaped the way I look at my own city, and I love bringing that perspective into my tours.

I first started guiding simply because I missed being outdoors and wanted to show people the Amsterdam I grew up in. I quickly fell in love with it. Every tour feels different with new conversations, new questions, new stories. I really enjoy tailoring each walk or bike ride to what my guests want to explore. Whether we’re wandering through hidden streets, stopping in front of a quirky statue, or chatting about daily life in the Netherlands, I love showing people the authentic, everyday Amsterdam behind the famous landmarks.

My favourite tours are usually the food tours, because they have such a relaxed, joyful atmosphere — walking, talking, and tasting together tells you so much about the culture of the city. I also guide ghost tours, which are a fun mix of spooky stories and beautiful monuments, and bike tours, where we get to cover more of Amsterdam’s highlights. And when I’m not guiding, you’ll probably find me strolling through the Albert Cuyp Market, browsing the vintage shops on Haarlemmerstraat, or catching up with the vendors at the Waterlooplein Market, where I’ve been going since I was a kid. I’d love to show you those places too and help you experience Amsterdam the way locals do.

My favourite place in Amsterdam is Waterlooplein Market. I’ve been going there since I was a child, and it still feels like the city at its most genuine, a lively mix of history, vintage treasures, friendly stallholders and everyday chatter. I love that it’s familiar and nostalgic, yet this flea market always has something unexpected to discover. Whenever I want to show someone the real Amsterdam, that’s the spot I take them to first.
