Custom Private Tours of the Netherlands

Every group is different. Every trip is different. A custom private tour means we design your itinerary from scratch, around exactly who you are and how you want to travel.

You might want a single afternoon in Amsterdam or a week across the Netherlands and Belgium. You might have a detailed wish list or simply a feeling that you want something special. Either way, we start the same way: with a conversation.

The more you tell us, the more precisely we can build something that is genuinely yours. Below are the things we ask every guest before we start planning.

WHAT WE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOU

Who is in your group

A couple, a family with young children, a group of friends, a multi-generational family, or colleagues on a work trip? Each group moves differently. A family with a 10-year-old needs something completely different from a group of adults who follow art and design. Tell us who is coming and we will shape the day around them.

What you are interested in

History, art, architecture, food, cycling, photography, Jewish heritage, the Dutch Golden Age, canal life, local markets, Dutch design? There is no wrong answer and no combination too unusual. The more specific you are, the more focused the tour will be.

Whether you have been before

Is this your first visit to Amsterdam or the Netherlands, or are you returning and want to go deeper? We design very differently depending on whether this is your first look at the Rijksmuseum or your fifth. Tell us what you have already seen and we will find the angles you have not.

How you like to travel

On foot, by bike, by boat, or a mix? Do you prefer to move at pace, or spend longer in fewer places? Amsterdam rewards those who slow down, but some parts of the country are best by coach or by water. It helps to know how you want to move through a place.

Any mobility or accessibility needs

Amsterdam’s historic centre has cobblestones, narrow stairs, and uneven surfaces. Let us know about any mobility requirements and we will design a route that works for everyone in your group. There is almost always a way.

How much time you have

A half-day (3 to 4 hours), a full day, or several days across the country? If you are staying for a week, we can plan something different for each day, with variety in pace, theme, and geography. Tell us your dates and we will work with what you have.

What matters most

Depth over highlights? A long conversation in one place rather than moving quickly through ten? Are there things you absolutely want to include, and things you are happy to skip? Tell us your priorities and we will build everything around them.

Any special occasion

Anniversary, birthday, honeymoon, family reunion, or a proposal? We adjust the tone, the pacing, and the atmosphere accordingly. Small touches can make the day feel designed entirely for you. Let us know and we will make sure it does.

HOW WE BUILD YOUR ITINERARY

Once we understand who you are and what you are looking for, we get to work.

We select locations, build the sequence, and think carefully about timing. What should come first to set the right tone? Where is the right moment to slow down? When to step away from the crowds, and how to end the day well? These details matter.

We match your group with a guide whose knowledge and style genuinely suit what you want. A tour focused on the Dutch Golden Age calls for different expertise than a food walk through the Jordaan or a cycling tour of the western canals.

You receive a detailed proposal. Accept it as it is, ask questions, or ask us to adjust. We refine it until it is right. There is no charge for this process.

Your tour starts the moment you get in touch.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a custom private tour of the Netherlands?

A custom private tour is built specifically for your group. There is no shared group, no fixed programme, and no generic route. We design the itinerary around your interests, your timing, and who you are. We cover Amsterdam, the rest of the Netherlands, and Belgium. No two tours are the same.

How do you plan the itinerary for a private tour?

We start with a conversation. You tell us who is in the group, what you want to see, how long you have, and whether there are any particular interests or needs. We put together a proposed itinerary, talk it through with you, and refine it until it is right. There is no charge for this planning process.

How many people can join a private tour?

We typically work with groups of 1 to 10 people. For larger parties we can arrange multiple guides or adapt the format. The important thing is that the tour stays private: your guide and any transport are exclusively for your group.

What languages are your guides available in?

Our guides are available in English, French, Spanish, and German. Let us know your preferred language when you get in touch and we will match you with the right person.

Can you arrange tours outside Amsterdam?

Yes. We regularly organise tours across the Netherlands and into Belgium. Popular destinations include Keukenhof, Zaanse Schans, Delft, The Hague, Bruges, and Ghent. If you have somewhere specific in mind, ask us. We will find a way to make it work.

What is included in a custom private tour?

Your tour includes a professional private guide and a fully planned itinerary. Private transport is included on tours where it is part of the programme. Entrance fees to museums and attractions are generally not included unless agreed in advance. We will give you a clear breakdown when we send your proposal.

How far in advance should I book a private tour?

We recommend at least two weeks in advance. For busier periods, including spring tulip season, summer, and the end-of-year holidays, four to six weeks is safer. Last-minute requests are always welcome, though availability cannot be guaranteed.

Do you offer half-day and multi-day private tours?

Yes. We offer half-day tours (around 3 to 4 hours), full-day tours, and multi-day programmes for guests who want to explore more of the Netherlands and Belgium. Tell us how much time you have and we will design something that fits.

Ready to Plan Your Tour?

Tell us about your group, what you want to see, and when you are travelling. We will put together a proposal and take it from there.
