Giethoorn is a unique village in the Dutch countryside, often referred to as Little Venice for its many waterways and the near absence of roads and cars. Most of the village is accessible only by boat, which gives it a calm, almost fairytale atmosphere. On this private day trip you explore Giethoorn both from the water and on foot, gliding past historic thatched farmhouses, narrow canals and picturesque wooden bridges.
Your day includes a self-drive boat, so you can set off along the canals at your own pace and soak up the tranquillity of the village, with free time to explore on foot, take photographs or stop for lunch at a local restaurant. What Is Included in This Private Tour
Giethoorn sits about an hour and three quarters north-east of Amsterdam. Because the day is private, we collect you door to door from your hotel or apartment, so there is no early group-coach meeting point and no waiting around. We set off in good time to reach the village ahead of the day-trip crowds, keep the pace relaxed and head back whenever suits you. It is a full-day tour of around eight hours, with roughly three to four hours in and around Giethoorn itself and the rest door to door on the road.
