Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the tour start?

In Brussels itself. Your guide meets you at your hotel or another agreed point in the city, and sees you back there at the end of the day. If you are travelling in from Amsterdam or elsewhere, we can arrange that as a tailored addition, so tell us where you are staying when you enquire.

How long is the Best of Brussels tour?

Eight hours in the city with your private guide, with time for lunch, coffee and photographs along the way.

What is included in the price?

A local private guide for the full day, pickup and drop-off within Brussels, entrance to one museum of your choice, and a drink with snacks along the way. Anything beyond that, a second museum or a proper lunch, is paid on the day, so you spend more only if you decide to.

What is the Coudenberg?

The Coudenberg was the palace of the Burgundian and Habsburg rulers of the Low Countries. It burned down in 1731 and the site was built over, so what survives is a network of rooms and streets underneath the modern Royal Palace. Walking through them is the most surprising half hour of the day for most people.

What is Belgian Beer World?

An exhibition inside the old stock exchange building on the Beursplein, devoted to Belgian brewing, ending with a tasting on the rooftop terrace and a wide view over the city. It is the natural finish to a day in Brussels.

Do we go inside the museums?

Yes. Entrance to one museum is included and you choose which one, whether that is the Broodhuis, the underground Coudenberg or Belgian Beer World. A full day in a single city leaves real time to go inside properly rather than admire things from the pavement, and if you want to add a second stop your guide will tell you what it costs and how long it takes.

Is there a lot of walking?

There is steady walking through the day, much of it on cobbles, and the centre has a few slopes. Because the tour is private, your guide sets the pace around you and you stop whenever you like.

Is lunch included?

Lunch is not included, but time for it is. Your guide will point you to somewhere good, whether you want a quick bite between stops or a proper sit-down break.

Is the tour suitable for families?

Yes. The underground palace tends to be the highlight for children, and the Grand Place needs no explanation. The rooftop tasting is for the adults.
