All About Me:

Hi, I’m Guido, also known as Guido the Guide. I was born and raised in Amsterdam’s famous Jordaan district, close to the Anne Frank House. I’ve been guiding visitors around the city for many years. I combine my love for Amsterdam with my career of writing theatre, comedy, music, and screenplays, and I still sometimes perform as an actor and comedian. I absolutely adore my hometown, and enjoy sharing my view of this ever-changing, endlessly fascinating city.

My tours are a mix of storytelling, history, making a genuine connection, and creating an experience that feels personal. I’m especially drawn to Jewish heritage tours and Second World War history; these subjects are deep, sensitive, and endlessly rich.

When I’m not guiding, I’m spend my time exploring. I love discovering offbeat neighbourhoods, tucked-away restaurants, peaceful parks, and places that show Amsterdam’s local heartbeat. Humour, insight, curiosity, that’s what I bring to every tour.

My favourite place in Amsterdam is the quiet courtyard of the Begijnhof. It feels like you step out of the busy city and into a small hidden world filled with history, calm and beautiful old houses. I always bring guests there when I want to show them a more intimate side of the city.

What a Great Tour to Look and Learn! This tour was impactful and exceptional. Out tour guide Guido - was articulate, knowledgable, and patient (this was important - because it was warm!). His ability to speak in depth about the history pre-war, and the angst and sorrow - excellent. Ending with the tour of the Anne Frank House and Annex - pulled it all together. We would highly recommend.

Excellent tour. Like many others, we booked this because we hadn’t got tickets to the Anne frank house but I am sure I would have preferred this anyway! A group of just ten of us compared to the 80 people at a time in Anne Frank’s house, plus we got to see and feel the streets that Anne was living in on her way into hiding. The VR experience was moving and the cool drinks in the cafe appreciated. Our tour guide, Guido, was personable and knowledgeable.

It is not easy to navigate a group of visitors with different levels of knowledge, and this group included a mix of visitors, including religious Jews (like us). Our guide, Guido, the Jewish quarter and Anne Frank Guido was an excellent guide for the Jewish quarter of Amsterdam and the private tour was definitely worth the money. He was personable, funny and easy to hang out with for a few hours. He is from Amsterdam and he knows the city intimately. He was very knowledgeable about the Jewish section of the town and knew the history of the Jewish quarter. He was sensitive to the significance and the relevance of today’s current issues and the past Amsterdam has experienced. The Anne Frank hiding place is worth your time to visit. The history of what the family went through was hell. Seeing the small space the 8 people shared for 2 years was unfathomable. Should we ever come back to Amsterdam, we won’t hesitate to contact Guido for a guided tour of another section of Amsterdam.

Jewish quarter My guide was Guido. His knowledge was vast and detail oriented. His manner was respectful, engaging and light hearted but intense with the understanding of the gravity and retrospective look at systematic genocide. I strongly recommend this tour to anyone who wishes an understanding of Nazi occupation and the removal of Jews in Amsterdam during WW2. My take home message was that in the midst of such evil and despair, there were those who resisted and did everything in their power to hide and save Jews even at the threat of their own lives.
