Climb the Dom Tower

Go up the tallest church tower in the Netherlands for stunning views over Utrecht and beyond. Standing at 112 metres (367 feet), the tower is a true symbol of the city. As you climb the 465 steps with a guide, you’ll learn about its fascinating history, including its separation from the Dom Church during a great storm in 1674. The view from the top is well worth the effort.

Explore the DOMunder

Explore the underworld of the Dom Square and discover over 2,000 years of history. Walk through old Roman streets and see the remains of the medieval cathedral. Lights and sounds help bring the stories of the past to life. A fun and fascinating way to explore Utrecht’s hidden history.

Walk along the Oudegracht

Take a walk along Utrecht’s old canal, surrounded by charming buildings and trees. The special wharf cellars by the water are now cosy cafés, shops, and galleries. You can sit by the canal with a drink, watch the boats go past, or enjoy a meal by the water. It’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy the friendly city feel.

Admire St. Martin’s Cathedral

Explore this beautiful Gothic church next to the Dom Tower, which was once the largest church in the Netherlands. Inside, you’ll find stunning stained glass windows, impressive stonework, and peaceful chapels. The cathedral has a rich history and has been an important place of worship for centuries.

Unwind in the Utrecht Botanic Gardens

Enjoy peaceful walks among exotic plants, colourful flowers, and beautiful greenhouses at this lovely garden in the university area. It’s a perfect place to escape the city’s hustle and bustle as the gardens offer a calm and refreshing spot all year round.

See the Famous De Haar Castle

Just a short trip from Utrecht, De Haar Castle is the largest and most spectacular castle in the Netherlands. Rising above the surrounding countryside with its fairy tale towers, turrets and drawbridges, the castle feels straight out of a storybook. The approach alone sets the scene, with tree lined paths, water features and carefully designed views that build anticipation before you even step inside.

A visit to De Haar Castle offers a complete and immersive glimpse into the world of Dutch nobility, combining architecture, history and landscape into one unforgettable experience.

So, why wait? Discover Utrecht, the beating heart of modern Netherlands, and see for yourself why it’s a must-visit city.

Try a House-Brewed Ale at Stadsbrouwerij Oudaen

Stadsbrouwerij Oudaen occupies a 14th-century fortified canal house on the Oudegracht, Utrecht’s famous sunken canal with its unique lower-level terraces. The brewery produces several house ales visible through glass panels behind the bar. The amber Oudaen Bier is a reliable choice, and in summer the canal terrace is one of the best places in the city to sit and watch the boats pass.

We booked a private tour with Stephan in Haarlem. I had been viewing his virtual tours for years, and it was a treat to meet him and have our own tour. We loved the pace of the tour, no rush, no crowds. We were able to walk many places in Haarlem, even had a beer in a church! I would highly recommend Stephan and his company.

Fabulous experience! Perfect experience!!! Sophia, our guide gave us such an informative background story leading up to Anne Frank’s hiding! We took the exact trip the family took to their hiding place in the house. The culmination was the virtual reality tour inside their house. It was incredible to see the original space with the actual furniture and belongings of the Frank family.

Ideal Way to End An Amazing Journey Amsterdam is an amazing city. It's fascinating and important place in European history, evidenced with the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank Haus, canal rides etc, make Amsterdam equal to, or better, than Paris, Rome, and London. In our five glorious days we thought we had done it all, so on our last day in Amsterdam and our trip, my wife booked the perfect ending with the Craft Beer Tour 🍺. First and foremost, our guide Michael, was far and above the best guide we had not just in Amsterdam, but our entire 18 day European trip. Not only was he the most, friendly and interesting, but his vast and expansive knowledge in not just the Amsterdam craft beer scene but in Dutch art, architecture, cultural history knew no bounds. Add to that, the best beers my wife and I have ever enjoyed, made this one of the highlights of our vacation. This established, we enthusiastically give our highest recommendation to Michael and we personally thank him for concluding our trip with an unexpected highlight of our amazing journey.
