All About Me:

Hi, I’m Jeroen. I’ve been guiding since 2017, but before that, I tried all sorts of things: owning a bar, teaching, acting, even working at holiday camps in France. I’ve always loved helping people have a good time, and guiding finally brought together my love for history, storytelling, and connecting with people. Every tour is a chance to share what fascinates me and meet visitors from all over the world.

I do walking tours, bike tours, museum visits, and Jewish heritage tours. I’m especially drawn to the 17th century, the Dutch Golden Age, and artists like Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen. Jan Steen’s humour in his paintings always makes me smile. I admire philosophers like Spinoza for his courage to think independently and speak his mind. I love showing both the famous sights and the hidden corners of Amsterdam, like quiet streets, cosy courtyards, and towns nearby like Edam, Volendam, and Marken.

I love creating tailor-made tours, too. I remember one group who wanted to explore the north of the Netherlands during tulip season and see the Wadden Sea. It was a very specific request, but we had such an incredible day driving through the polders, stopping at little villages, and sharing stories along the way. Seeing people’s faces light up when they discover something new – that’s why I do this job.

Jeroen

My favourite place in Amsterdam is the Jordaan. This neighbourhood holds a special place in my heart. Early in the morning, when the streets are quiet and the canals shine in soft sunlight, the little courtyards feel like secret worlds full of stories. Walking there, I feel completely at home. I love stopping by my old bar, wandering the narrow lanes, or just pausing by a canal and watching the city wake up. No matter how many times I visit, I always notice something new, and it never stops inspiring me.
