Celebrity River Cruises in Amsterdam: the 2028 Season, Ship by Ship

Celebrity River Cruises is the newest name on the European rivers. The line began sailing the Danube in 2027 with Celebrity Seeker and Celebrity Compass, and Amsterdam joins the map in 2028, when Celebrity Wanderer and Celebrity Roamer start running from here almost every week. The ships are small by ocean standards, 172 guests, and the two Amsterdam itineraries head in opposite directions: Celebrity Roamer south up the Rhine towards Basel, Celebrity Wanderer west through the Dutch and Belgian waterways towards Brussels.

That makes Amsterdam a turnaround port rather than a stop along the way. Ships arrive on a Saturday and leave the following day, so your free time here is a whole day before you board or after you step off, not a few hours squeezed into a port call. It is the difference between seeing one museum and seeing the city properly, or getting out to Keukenhof, the Zaanse Schans windmills or Haarlem and still being back in good time.

Back on board in good time, guaranteed. We plan the day around your ship’s schedule and always have you back well before all aboard. The easiest way to start is to get in touch.

A first season, so we are keeping this page honest. Celebrity River Cruises has not sailed from Amsterdam yet. The dates below are the line’s published 2028 plan, times are provisional, and berths have not been assigned. We check the schedule every month and update this page as the port confirms it. With a 4.9 rating from thousands of reviews, you are in trusted local hands in the meantime.

Celebrity River Cruises Docking Schedule in Amsterdam

Celebrity Wanderer and Celebrity Roamer alternate weekly through the 2028 season, arriving on a Saturday morning and sailing the next day. Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker are Danube ships and appear here only around the New Year, when they reposition.

These dates come from the line’s published itineraries rather than from the port, so treat the times as provisional and expect berths to be added closer to the season. The schedule below is filtered from our central river cruise calendar and updates automatically as better information arrives.

Where Celebrity River Ships Will Dock in Amsterdam

Berths for 2028 have not been allocated yet, so we cannot tell you which quay your ship will use. What we can tell you is where riverboats of this size go. Amsterdam works its river ships through five central berths, all of them within a short walk or transfer of the old town, and Celebrity will be given one of them. Each is mapped below, and we confirm the exact quay with you once the port publishes it.

172 Guests, Two Directions, and a Line Nobody Has Sailed With Yet

Celebrity River Cruises is the first genuinely new name to arrive on these rivers in years, and it arrives with ocean money behind it. The ships are purpose-built rather than converted, they carry 172 guests, and the first two, Celebrity Seeker and Celebrity Compass, opened the Danube in 2027. Celebrity Wanderer and Celebrity Roamer follow in 2028 and are the two you will meet in Amsterdam.

What is unusual is the shape of the Amsterdam operation. Most lines treat the city as a stop partway through a Rhine run. Celebrity uses it as a hinge: Celebrity Roamer works the classic Rhine route towards Basel, Celebrity Wanderer goes the other way through the Dutch and Belgian waterways towards Brussels, and both turn around here. In a typical 2028 week one ship arrives on a Saturday morning and leaves on the Sunday, and a week later the other does the same.

For a guest that has a practical consequence. You are not weighing up a six-hour window against the ship’s own excursion. You are looking at a free day at the start or the end of a holiday, usually with a hotel night attached, which is enough to reach Keukenhof in the bulb season, the Zaanse Schans windmills, Haarlem or Delft and come back without watching the clock.

The honest caveat is that none of this has happened yet. We have the line’s published dates and its itinerary structure, and that is genuinely useful for planning. We do not have port-confirmed times, assigned berths, or a season of experience to draw on. Those arrive over the next eighteen months, and this page changes as they do. If you are holding a 2028 booking, that is exactly the point at which it helps to have someone local watching it for you.

Why Book a Private Tour?

Celebrity is new to the rivers, but it is not new to shore excursions, and the pattern on its ocean ships is a well-run coach with a headset and forty other people on it. That works. It is simply not the same day as a car, a guide and an itinerary that answers to you.

The 172-guest ships change the maths too. A small ship fills a coach quickly, so the popular excursions sell out and the timings are fixed early. Booking your own day sidesteps that entirely, and you are not tied to whatever was still available when you got around to it.

Most of all, Amsterdam is where your cruise starts or ends, not a stop in the middle. Nearly every Celebrity guest we will see here has a full day either side of the sailing, often a night in a hotel as well. That is enough time to go out to the bulb fields or the windmills and come back unhurried, which a mid-cruise port call never allows.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does Celebrity River Cruises start sailing from Amsterdam?

The line’s first Danube season runs in 2027, and Amsterdam comes on stream in 2028. The earliest Amsterdam dates currently published are in January 2028, with the weekly Rhine and Benelux departures beginning that spring.

Which Celebrity ships will call at Amsterdam?

Celebrity Wanderer and Celebrity Roamer do the regular Amsterdam turnarounds, Wanderer heading for Brussels and Roamer up the Rhine towards Basel. Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker are Danube ships and only appear here when they reposition around the New Year. Celebrity Boundless has no Amsterdam dates at all so far.

Why does the schedule not show a berth?

Because the port has not assigned one yet. Berths for a new line are usually confirmed much closer to the season. The schedule above will fill in automatically once they are published, and the five central quays river ships use in Amsterdam are mapped further up this page.

Are these 2028 dates confirmed?

They are the line’s published plan rather than port-confirmed calls, so treat the times as provisional. First seasons move more than established ones. We re-check the schedule every month and update this page, and we confirm your own date with you before anything is booked.

Can we book a private tour now for a 2028 cruise?

Yes. We take bookings well ahead and hold the date for you, and we will adjust the timings free of charge if your sailing shifts. For a turnaround day in Amsterdam that is worth doing early, particularly for the spring departures that fall in the bulb season.
