Piet Heinkade, city centre · 20 min walk to Centraal
Right on the IJ waterfront in the city centre, a 10 minute walk or one tram stop from Central Station. LP is your berth number, and “via Muziekgebouw” or “via Vriesseveem” simply tells you which walkway leads to your gangway.
Behind Central Station, west side · 5 min walk to Centraal
Behind Amsterdam Central Station, on the west side, so you are inside the station within 5 minutes of stepping ashore. The Dam, the canal ring and the Jordaan are all within an easy and very pleasant walk.
Behind Central Station, east side · 8 min walk to Centraal
Just east of Central Station, 10 minutes on foot from the main station hall. NEMO Science Museum, the OBA library and the Maritime Museum are close by, around Oosterdok, and the old centre starts a 10 minute walk away.
Western IJ waterfront · 12 min walk to Centraal.
On the western IJ bank, a 12 minute walk from Central Station. The berth borders the Jordaan, which puts the Noordermarkt, the Nine Streets and the Anne Frank House all within a 20 minute stroll of your gangway.
Western harbour · 15 min taxi or ship shuttle
A working harbour about 4 kilometres west of the centre, used when the central berths are full. Nothing lies in walking distance, so plan on a ship shuttle, a 15 minute taxi, or a private pickup right at the gangway.
Riverside Debussy is the Rhine ship in a fleet of three, and it carries somewhere around 106 to 110 guests across 55 suites. That makes it noticeably smaller than almost everything else tied up alongside it in Amsterdam, where the norm is 150 to 180. Small ship, small groups, and a guest list that has usually chosen Riverside precisely to avoid being one of a hundred and sixty.
The brand is young and its background is unusual. Riverside was founded in 2022 by the Gerlach family of Hamburg, the family behind the Seaside Collection of hotels in Germany, Spain and the Maldives, and it built its fleet from former Crystal river ships. The hotel inheritance is visible on board, where every guest has butler service and suites run from 20 to 82 square metres.
Amsterdam is a genuine turnaround port for Debussy. Romantic Rhine sails both ways between here and Basel over seven nights. The Rhine and Main runs through to Nuremberg and back again as Europe’s Fairytale Waterways. Majestic Waters of Europe arrives here from Budapest after fourteen nights. Most interesting for anyone planning extra time, there are two genuinely short sailings: Scenes and Snaps on the Rhine and Moselle, five nights from Amsterdam to Riol near Trier, and Snapshots From the Moselle and Lower Rhine, four nights back.
Those short cruises are the ones worth padding. Four or five nights afloat leaves an appetite for more, and Riverside guests already expect a level of service that a coach with forty seats does not deliver. Excursions here are chosen fresh each day and sold within a premium all-inclusive package rather than bundled automatically, so a private car and a guide sits naturally alongside how the line already operates.

Yes. We meet you at your hotel and take you to your starting point for the day, whether that is a museum, a market, a day-trip destination, or the ship itself. On your final day we can also arrange an onward transfer to the airport after your tour.
