Uniworld’s boutique super ships have a relatively shallow draught, but an exceptionally low Rhine can still reshape an itinerary, so it is worth checking the current Rhine water levels before you travel.
Uniworld ships berth centrally in Amsterdam. These are the berths used for Uniworld calls, so you know where your guide will meet you. The exact berth for your sailing is shown in the schedule above.
Piet Heinkade, city centre · 20 min walk to Centraal
Right on the IJ waterfront in the city centre, a 10 minute walk or one tram stop from Central Station. LP is your berth number, and “via Muziekgebouw” or “via Vriesseveem” simply tells you which walkway leads to your gangway.
Behind Central Station, west side · 5 min walk to Centraal
Behind Amsterdam Central Station, on the west side, so you are inside the station within 5 minutes of stepping ashore. The Dam, the canal ring and the Jordaan are all within an easy and very pleasant walk.
Behind Central Station, east side · 8 min walk to Centraal
Just east of Central Station, 10 minutes on foot from the main station hall. NEMO Science Museum, the OBA library and the Maritime Museum are close by, around Oosterdok, and the old centre starts a 10 minute walk away.
Western IJ waterfront · 12 min walk to Centraal.
On the western IJ bank, a 12 minute walk from Central Station. The berth borders the Jordaan, which puts the Noordermarkt, the Nine Streets and the Anne Frank House all within a 20 minute stroll of your gangway.
Western harbour · 15 min taxi or ship shuttle
A working harbour about 4 kilometres west of the centre, used when the central berths are full. Nothing lies in walking distance, so plan on a ship shuttle, a 15 minute taxi, or a private pickup right at the gangway.
Very few lines publish an all-aboard time per departure. Uniworld does. Most Amsterdam departures show 15:30, which is a genuinely short day, but a handful sit at 21:00, including S.S. Antoinette on Remarkable Rhine and Historic Holland and S.S. Victoria on Holland and Belgium at Tulip Time. Those two are evening-in-Amsterdam sailings, and they should be planned completely differently from the 15:30 ones.
The other useful published detail concerns the final day. Staterooms must be empty by 08:00, but guests are welcome to stay aboard in the public areas until 13:00 or later depending on the schedule. That is a long, comfortable morning to be out with a guide while the ship keeps your cases.
Five Uniworld ships call here in 2026: River Duchess, S.S. Antoinette, S.S. Beatrice, S.S. Elisabeth and S.S. Victoria, with Elisabeth the most intimate at 110 guests and Antoinette and Beatrice around the 150 mark. One River Duchess departure leaves from Zaandam rather than Amsterdam proper, so check your paperwork before you book anything.
Uniworld already includes a great deal, gratuities among it, and butler service in every suite grade. It also lays on a complimentary private car to HOUSE of GASSAN whenever the ship is docked in Amsterdam. What it does not cover is the pre-cruise night, the post-cruise afternoon or a whole day shaped around one interest, and its own Masterpiece Collection experiences are paid add-ons.
Uniworld’s ships are small, so its own excursions are never the cattle-truck experience you get off a big vessel. What they still cannot be is about you. A private day bends to what you actually want, whether that is an unhurried morning in the Rijksmuseum or a slow wander through the Jordaan.
